Earlier this year, I flew to Dominican Republic to visit a friend of mine who moved out there for about a year in order to disconnect from New York City's chaos, clear his head, and reconnect with his Dominican family. I flew to Dominican Republic because I missed my friend! And well, to be totally honest, it didn't sound too bad to sip a few Pina Coladas under a Palm Tree in The Caribbean!
A flight from New York to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, is about 3 hours away and prices are pretty cheap if you book ahead! The weather is beautiful and sunny all year long! so whenever you are in need of a tropical vacation, Dominican Republic, is there to fill your sun kissed needs. I stayed with my friend at his grandmother's house in the Capital, Santo Domingo, which is the largest city in Dominican Republic. His grandmother's home was about 30 minutes away from the historic Zona Colonial district and about 45 minutes away from the beautiful Boca Chica beach.
Here is what I did during my 7 days in Dominican Republic:
Santo Domingo:
1. Walked around Zona Colonial, Visited the Christopher Columbus statue, took some photos.
2. Spent a day in Boca Chica beach! Only about 30 min. outside of Central Santo Domingo! This beach is breathtaking and looks like something out of a travel magazine!
3. Took a bus to Punta Cana and stayed at an all-inclusive resort! When in Punta Cana, you will come across a handful of exciting activities to do! We couldn't afford all of them and we were pretty torn! However, the ones that caught our attention the most were: Boat ride to Saona Island, a day in the jungle playing with monkeys, and a night at COCO BONGO!
